Hockley Rebel is a traditional pub in a modern setting located in Hockley Nottingham.
The original idea was to call it “Ales from Wales” to represent its traditional beer range but it was decided instead to go with the name “Hockley Rebel” to reflect its location and modern ethos. The logo needed to represent Wales but also reflect the modern twist of the bar itself.
It also had to be simple so it could be stencilled onto woodwork and also utilised for a metal sign to be placed outside.
The original idea of a dragon from Ales to Wales was used to form the basis of the logo.
I sketched out the face a few times before working it up within Adobe illustrator.
